Weight management is a multimillion dollar industry partly because modern living has made obesity a ghastly reality for so many people. However, the main reason why the weight loss industry is so successful is not just because of obesity but because of perceptions that slimness equates to beauty and attractiveness.
A person is ill advised to use fad diets as a means to tackle weight loss. Many fad diets are actually crash diets which have been proved to be detrimental to health. The effects are generally short lived anyway, and you could end up gaining weight as your body’s response to further starvation attacks.
It has been well documented that the best and most permanent way to lose weight is by observing a low fat and a low carbohydrate diet. It is also important to exercise regularly. By combining exercise and a proper calorie controlled diet your body has no choice but to shed excess pounds. Do not be tempted to diet without exercise or exercise without dieting. If you actually want to reduce your current weight the two measures are needed together.
You can keep to a low fat and a low carbs diet by avoiding products that are loaded with hidden fats, and also processed carbohydrate products such as white bread. Many pre-packaged products such as frozen pizza are to be totally avoided as these are the wrong sort of carbohydrate drenched in the wrong type of fats. Instead, go for pulses and whole grain rice that you cook yourself.
The best way to control your weight once you have achieved the ideal for your height and sex is to maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise. A healthy diet should include a good proportion of raw foods such as fruit and salad. You should also have a good range of vegetables and whole grains. Restrict the amount of red meat, poultry and dairy products.
When you decide to watch your weight, do not be tempted to replace too many foods with low or zero calorie alternatives. It is important to stop drinking too much sugared soda but it is unwise to exchange this for overloading your system with artificial sweeteners. These products are jost a ploy by conglomerates to continue siphoning your money. You are better placed drinking water and freshly squeezed juices instead.
There are a number of ways in which you can incorporate exercise in to your daily schedule. It is all a matter of preference or what works best for you. Some people prefer the discipline of attending the gym on a daily basis. This works for people who can afford it and have the time to go. Jogging is another popular form of cardiovascular exercise and a cheaper option. You may also want to do home aerobics or dancing which can be done before an evening meal or early in the morning before work.
Effective weight management is achieved by taking a holistic approach to your health and physique. Exchange wrong foods and a sedentary way of life for a healthy diet and super active lifestyle.
